I'm far from a pro, but I love taking photos.

I vlog

Have a look at my videos. My accent gets all sorts of messed up on them.

Best Kind Of Lullaby

"And there is nothing I can do
When I realize with fright
That the Spiderman is having me for dinner tonight."

It was back in the days before cell phones with cameras, hell - way before cell phones were even more than something I saw in sci-fi movies. I remember it like yesterday though and it was the start of a love affair that would last from then until now.

I heard Lullaby for the first time one school holidays in the 80s.

I was working and staying at my grandparents place and I used to have the radio on at night. I hated being there because the house scared me, it was dark and creepy and quiet. Lullaby made it worse. It scared the crap out of me but I just loved the lyrics and the beat and the darkness and from then on out I was a Cure fan.

I wore a lot of black. I collected bootlegs of everything. I was that kid.

The Cure is one of the bands on my list of bands I need to see or see again, and like with many of the other bands on this list I just figured I wouldn't ever see them. Roger Waters' The Wall, check. Soundgarden again, check. The Cure - I now have tickets.

After realizing that they are playing out here and throwing it out on Facebook to see who wanted to go, I am going with Renee to see The Cure at The Pantages in a couple weeks. Going to be ace. Like with most concerts I won't think about it until I get there so I don't oversell or undersell it. I do the same thing with flying. I block it. I also can't wait.

The Post That Will Make You Wince

I have no idea how it happened but I'm pretty sure there is no way I could do it again as I either have serious skills or I'm seriously clumsy. I'm going with the clumsy.

See this? It's a splinter. It's thick and fat and big. See the Tylenol. I needed them

Why?

Because I somehow managed to get that splinter jammed under my right big toenail. Right in there. Almost to the end of it. It was in so far that when I was in shock and looked at my toe that felt insanely hot but didn't hurt, I couldn't see anything. I looked again because I knew something had happened when I got off the sofa and my toe had touched the coffee table. On closer inspection I saw that there was something at the tip of my toenail.

Uh ohs, I thought. Something isn't right. I limped off to the bathroom to get the tweezers because I figured something had happened. I got to the bathroom, tears streaming as by now it hurt like hell, picked up the tweezers and put my foot up on top of the counter and into the sink.

I inhaled.

I pulled out the splinter.

I bled like a stuck pig.

I grabbed the antiseptic spray and sprayed away.

I got woozy and went and sat down.

And then it started to hurt like hell.

There is no point posting photos as I'm not that mean and I am sure you can imagine what it looks like. A day later my big toe is nice and puffy and a lovely shade of purple. It still hurts but it will be fine.  I still have no idea how I managed to do it but I will be more than careful to never do it again.

Ow.
