"And there is nothing I can do
When I realize with fright
That the Spiderman is having me for dinner tonight."
It was back in the days before cell phones with cameras, hell - way before cell phones were even more than something I saw in sci-fi movies. I remember it like yesterday though and it was the start of a love affair that would last from then until now.
I heard Lullaby for the first time one school holidays in the 80s.
I was working and staying at my grandparents place and I used to have the radio on at night. I hated being there because the house scared me, it was dark and creepy and quiet. Lullaby made it worse. It scared the crap out of me but I just loved the lyrics and the beat and the darkness and from then on out I was a Cure fan.
I wore a lot of black. I collected bootlegs of everything. I was that kid.
The Cure is one of the bands on my list of bands I need to see or see again, and like with many of the other bands on this list I just figured I wouldn't ever see them. Roger Waters' The Wall, check. Soundgarden again, check. The Cure - I now have tickets.
After realizing that they are playing out here and throwing it out on Facebook to see who wanted to go, I am going with Renee to see The Cure at The Pantages in a couple weeks. Going to be ace. Like with most concerts I won't think about it until I get there so I don't oversell or undersell it. I do the same thing with flying. I block it. I also can't wait.
