bowling prom pt 2.

What are you all dressed up for?
Why are you here?
Are you from a wedding?
What are you celebrating?
Blank stare.

We went to a local hamburger joint and then a local bowling alley in full prom attire, just because. Actually that isn't entirely true as we were there to make a couple of dreams come true for Aleks. She mentioned a couple months back that she wanted to do a bowling prom. We would get all decked out in prom dresses and go bowling. Why? Why not? We had it in the works and then with the launch of altSCV we had the perfect excuse to go do it. On February the 8th, 2011 the crew of altSCV plus the some of the SCVTwittercrew dressed up in frocks and tails and headed out for a night on the town.

First stop - Five Guys.

They had no idea we were coming and the look on the staff and the patron's faces were priceless as Scott walked in the door. They were really fun and took some photos of us and helped us find pins to stick our drawings up on the pinboard. As usual I left my @kungfupussy #FTW mark. We ate hamburgers and fries and they were much better than last time which was even better. I got all hyped up on Coke Zero. Sweet. Andreanna came and we took some promish pics, complete with Scott holding a 50 lb bag of potatoes over his shoulder. That's how he rolls.

Next Stop: Valencia Lanes, Newhall and I tweeted this as we walked in the door:

oh dear god. they are going to kill us.

It was like a western movie when the guy walks into the crowded bar and the piano stops playing and everyone turns to see what's going on - this was what it felt like as we walked into the bowling alley. It was a usual league night with beers, jeans, a mullet or two - then we arrived. Our dresses and top hats and all sorts of fabulousness attracted A LOT of attention.

"I love your dress!" said the girl at the counter.

The imaginary silent piano started to play again.

"We're here for bowling prom and the launch party of altSCV".
"Oh yes! We've been waiting for you! Lanes 1 through 4 are yours!"

And breathe.

Bowling was a challenge. I suck at bowling but I like it. I do not like it in a dress though. Stupid fluffy fabric getting in my way.

says nate re me: "sometimes you bowl like a lady. sometimes you bowl like the drummer from slayer. rahhhh!"

I don't think I've ever been graceful and perhaps when I bowl is when it is more evident than usual. I bowled with Maggie who did amazingly and took some brilliant photos that I can't wait to see. Andreanna snapped away as we all took to the lanes as the rest of the alley watched us for a while. The boys did some speed bowling thing and danced, yes danced their asses off. Beer, wine and vodka and cranberries were drunk. A pinata full of candy appeared. Lady Gaga and Tu-Pac played in the background as we bowled. The magazine was out for those of us who hadn't seen it yet to pour over and get all excited about. Donuts were eaten and the sugar high appeared for most at around 9.30. I swear I saw some of them in a dougie dance off. It was brilliant. We live tweeted the night for those who were unable to make it and at the same time wished they were there to see the fun. Overall, like the actual launch of altSCV, bowling prom was a great success with the appearance of: Scott, Bree, Lady Ducayne, Shawna, Aleks, Nick, Greg, Kendra, Maggie, Andreanna, Nate, Jeff, Evis and many more there in spirit via twitter.
